[And here he was, thinking this was a birthday gift! Acknowledging the nonstop march of time is scary--celebration of holidays, less so. He takes the basket from Maya to allow her to scratch Trash Bag.

Trash Bag squints her eye up at Maya, pushing her head against Maya's hand and purring very loudly. She loves the pets, and she loves friends even more!]

Of course I'm alive. I'm always alive. [He says that with the confidence of a twelve year old who just took cookies from a cookie jar and would gladly do it again.] Do you, uh, wanna come in?

[Also his nose keeps twitching because god damn it actually smells really good and he just realized he hasn't eaten all day]

Wow, so old dogs can learn to be gentleman.

[That's absolutely not how the saying goes, but Maya scoops Trash Bag up and rubs that little head of hers.]

I can come in for a little while. You haven't forgotten to dust in there, have you?

[She teases, grinning. She also maybe wants to hear his assessment of her cooking but what else is to be expected when you make someone a meal???]

[Trash Bag looks perfectly at home in Maya's arms. She squints her eye and starts revving like a lawnmower. Juno gestures for Maya to follow as he walks back inside, placing the food on the table.]

Hey, I made a solid attempt. [There's...a lot of random papers just sort of scattered around. It looks like someone started cleaning, but then got distracted and stopped. Multiple times.] I keep trying to clean up, but this little devil keeps messing everything up.

[He scratches Trash Bag on the head. She does not admit to her crimes.]

What'd you make, anyways?

Awww, is the mean old lady blaming you, Trash Bag?

[Maya coos at the cat, scritching Trash Bag's head as she follows Juno's gesture in and then finally lets Trash Bag down.]

It's fish! You've probably never heard of it.

[haha, because she's a mermaid, and there's probably too much fish lately-- nevermind. She doesn't even wait for a reaction before she sets to look through some of those papers that are sticking out, definitely already helping to clean and not just being nosey.]

[Juno doesn't really get the comment and interprets it differently. He lets out a grumble, though his tone is somewhat lighthearted.]

I've heard of fish before. Just 'cus I used to live on Mars doesn't mean I don't know what fish are.

[Says the guy who called a whale a fish. Still, he takes a moment to peel off the cover and stick his nose into the container, sniffing at it. Smells pretty good--probably tastes just as good, too!

Trash Bag immediately turns towards the smell of fish, her pupils growing to the size of moons as she wiggles her little butt and jumps up to investigate. Juno casts her a grumpy look.]

Hey--get off the table.

[Trash Bag ignores him, trying to stick her nose into the basket. Juno pushes his hand against her forehead, trying to keep her away. Trash Bag keeps pushing until she slips just under his palm, grabbing a mouthful of fish before leaping off and scampering away.]

Hey!

[But it's too late--she's already run off with her goods.]
