[Juno snatches the paper from Javert and spends a minute or two scrutinizing it. He doesn't say anything, although he does bring the paper closer to his eye. After what seems like an eternity, he folds it up and holds it out for Javert to take back.]

Back when I worked for Aunamee, I was supposed to help protect the humans who purchased the watches from his store. Any and all humans were safe, as long as it continued to work. Those who wanted the protection often liked the idea of having a monster watching after them, like some sort of messed up bodyguard business.

[He sounds reluctant to admit it--because, in his mind, admitting as much would mean that he would also be admitting that he was wrong. It's okay to be wrong sometimes, though, as long as you learn from your mistakes, right? That's what people say. That's what he has to get through his thick skull.]

If he gave you this watch, that means you're not in any immediate danger from him for now. [He grimaces slightly, crossing his arms.] If he trusts you, that means you can keep an eye on him and tell if he's going to do anything.

[He says it, as if he expects Javert to know what he's talking about.]
